Ever since Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton in the presidential election, Democrats have been whining that he only won because Russia hacked into the DNC’s computer servers.
However, these allegations weren’t enough to allow the FBI access to investigate this intrusion themselves
Bizpac Review reported that FBI Director James Comey revealed this on Tuesday while testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee in an open session on Russian interference in the U.S. election.
There, Comey told lawmakers that though the FBI requested access to the hacked DNC server, they were denied.
Comey explained that the FBI made “multiple requests at different levels,” but they eventually came to a deal with the DNC that a “highly respected private company” would get access and share what it found with investigators.
“We’d always prefer to have access hands-on ourselves if that’s possible,” Comey said, adding that he had no idea why the DNC rejected the FBI’s request.
Though the DNC claimed last week that the FBI never made such a request, a senior law enforcement official just spoke out to say this is not true.
“The FBI repeatedly stressed to DNC officials the necessity of obtaining direct access to servers and data, only to be rebuffed until well after the initial compromise had been mitigated,” the official said.
“This left the FBI no choice but to rely upon a third-party for information. These actions caused significant delays and inhibited the FBI from addressing the intrusion earlier.”Perhaps the DNC did not want the FBI to investigate the server because if they had, officials would have told the public that Trump actually won this election fair and square.
